Legacy Conversion to 2D drawing using Autocad Software

It is not just enough to convert old paper drawings to computer files in the form of scanned images.It is necessary to have 2D drawing in computer file format, which can be modified as and when required.
For making 2D drawings in editable format MagnaD can provide the solution using any of the following Autocad packages.
Autocad Mechanical Power Pack / Autocad 2004 / Autocad LT. Autocad is the global standard for 2D drawings
The customer has the facility to issue these drawings to user department in pdf / tif format which cannot be editable.The customer has also the facility to issue these drawings in editable formats.
The final drawing file format delivered by us will be *.dwg or *.dxf.

Developing 3D Models.
3D Models
Visualization of the product is important for getting the right product to come to the market at right time.
It is very much required to get design inputs from various user departments for making the component first time right.
It is also necessary to have a tool which can be used to visualize how the product changes when we change some profiles / dimensions.
For making 3D models MagnaD has the expertise in the following cad systems.
Autodesk – Inventor 7
PTC – ProE Wildfire
EDS – Unigraphics nX
EDS – SolidEdge 14
The models, which we generate, will be in parametric native (parent & child relationship will be maintained) so that it can be editable for the key dimensions.
Once we make the 3D model it is easy to get 2D drawings from the model. It is also possible to edit the dimension in 2D drawing to update the 3D model.
The input for making these will be the available 2D drawing (which may be in cad format or any other computer format)
The final output model / drawing file format will be *.prt, *.igs, *.par, *.ipt, *.x_t, *.dwg, *.dxf, *.drw, *.idw etc.

Assembly Drawings / Bill of materials.

Once the 3D model is ready it is necessary to go for fitment test like (clearance between the parts, whether it fits within the specified area)
It is very much useful for the next user to understand how the parts are assembled with each other and the bill of material covers how many parts (like nuts and bolts) required.
For doing this we use the same 3D modeling software, which has, tools to maintain the relation between parts.
The assembly model also has the relation with individual parts such that if we edit the dimension in assembly it will automatically update the parts and vice versa.
The input required would be two-dimensional assembly drawing with detailed part drawing.
The final out put will be *.asm, *.iam
Technical Manuals
Technical Manuals
Technical Manuals can be made in other integrated formats using MS-Word, Excel sheet, Power Point etc, utilizing raster images from cad files, if dimensioning is not required.

In some cases we may have the proven component running for more than a decade which may have under gone some slight modifications as and when required.
Since the drawing has not been updated and if a new vendor has to manufacture parts, there will be a loss of time due to differences between the old drawing and the new components been used.
To overcome this if you send the part to us, it will be measured in our CMM and the dimension will be reproduced in Cad format 2D / 3D.
Since we have strong engineering background in development of mechanical components we can ensure true fidelity drawings.
Conversion from Fabrication to Castings.
Fabrication to Castings.
Since MagnaD traces its lineage MagnaE, which has very good casting design experience you can use the same for converting you complicate, fabricated drawings into simplified casting designs leading to higher quality and lower cost.
This will eliminate many of your complex fabrication process

Simulation.
Simulation
We have software for simulating the internal soundness of casting provided if you give the detailed methoding drawing how the casting is poured
Otherwise we can also suggest feeding system required for the casting to achieve the required internal soundness.
For this we use Autocast and Softcast - Casting Simulation Softwares utilising vector analysis.
The output will be in Powerpoint file with cooling temperature map.
We also have access to ANSYS for mechanical simulation.
Cad Switch.
Customers may have the need to switchover from one software to other softwarepackage. But his ability to switch is limited due to huge legacy data.
MagnaD has the capacity to help the customer to switch any Cad software package without losing the integrity of the data.
